40th anniversary of ŻABCIA - our first sailboat

There is a tear in the eye, it’s been so many years…
In 1982, ŻABCIA sailboat was designed. It was the first boat designed by Marek Jankowski, the founder of the KAMA company, however not the first one build by himself.
The sailboat was less than 4 m long, had 7 m2 sails and was made of plywood by sewing and gluing method. Thanks to that it was relatively fast and easy to build by sailing and woodwork enthusiasts themselves.
After ŻABCIA premiere in the main Polish sailing magazine – “ŻAGLE”, the sale of Do-It-Yourself plans began. The plans were very popular and more than 200 copies were sold.
NEMO - our new construction

We are introducing the NEMO pedal boat in a very attractive form of a ship.
Its concept was legally protected at EUIPO in Alicante.
Soon there will also be a version powered by an electric motor instead of pedals.

Firefly in the new version

We have developed a new version of the Firefly motor boat powered by an outboard engine instead of a stationary one.
It has already been tested on the water and goes on sale today.
We hope she will find many buyers – she swims really nice 🙂

Maldives International Boat Show 2009 took place on 12-14 of October in a capital city of Maldives, Male.
Merlin was presented by our partner – company Ocean Sports. Our sailboat has generated large interest among visitors and journalists,
thanks to its unique centreboard design, which makes Merlin a great choice for shallow Maldivian waters.

Genoa Boat Show took place on 03-11 of October in Genoa in Italy. It is one of the biggest and most prestigious events of the boat building sector.
Trade and Investment Promotion Section of Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Rome actively promoted our company and products among another Polish boat building companies. Promotional materials and information about our boats were available on the stand. Numerous appointments with journalist took place.

TALL SHIPS' RACES Gdynia 2009

On July 3rd, 2009, during The Tall Ships’ Races, Captain Mieczysław Krause cruised in the Proton from Górki Zachodnie to Gdynia.
The distance between both ports is 12 miles as the crow flies. Next day he returned to Górki.
The voyage took place under various weather conditions — with wind from calm up to Beaufort Force 5.
In Captain’s opinion the Proton is fast, seaworthy, sails very well up to the wind and with one meter high waves she cruises dry.
Mieczysław Krause is going to cruise by the Proton to Bornholm Island (Kolobrzeg – Nexo, 55 miles as the crow flies). The sponsors are needed urgently for this unusual expedition.

Between June 23rd and 26th, 2009, the Kama boatyard takes part in the Interboat 2009 workshops dedicated to boating industry. The event takes place at Viareggio, Italy.
We hope that thanks to experience taken from these workshops our boats will be even better and the Kama brand name would strength its position on the Italian market.

The TASK Association has worked out the project under the title of “The Baltic means not only a beach”. One of the actions of this project is “Coast Cruise 2005” where the Kama boatyard is a co-organizer of this initiative. The action leans on a crusie by Merlin sailboat along the Baltic Sea from Kolobrzeg to Wladyslawowo.
